All ninth-graders at Portland High take part in a seminar designed to teach “important study and life skills that will help them even after graduation,” said Suzie Nick, the school librarian. “In this class, we focused on the grit and perseverance theme with Mr. Hoose’s book.” …

“I think that there’s a lot of similarities between Attucks and Portland High School,” Stacey said. “We have so many different students from so many different ethnicities and cultures and they all come together to play on one team. There’s a lot to learn from that.”
